Ingredients
- 4 lg. Baking Apples, such as Fuji or Golden Delicious
- 1/2 c. Old-Fashioned Rolled Oats (not instant)
- 3/4 c. Brown Sugar, firmly packed
- 1 t. Ground Cinnamon
- 1/4 t. Salt
- 1/4 t. Ground Nutmeg
- 1/2 c. (1 stick) Butter, cut into small pieces
- 1/2 c. Apple Juice
Directions
-
Using an apple corer, core the apples and set aside.
-
In small bowl, stir together the oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg until well mixed. Sprinkle the butter over the oat mixture. Using your fingertips, rub the butter into the sugar-oat mixture until mixture holds together in small chunks.
-
Stuff an equal amount of the oat mixture into the center of each apple. Stand the apples upright in a baking dish, just large enough to hold them. Pour the apple juice into the bottom of the pan.
-
Bake in 350 degree oven until golden and tender when pierced with a knife, about 35 minutes. Transfer the apples to individual bowls and serve warm.
