Ingredients
- 12 eggs, separated
- 12 tablespoons zwieback, finely ground
- 12 tablespoons chopped walnuts
- 12 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 jigger cognac
- 1/2 pound butter
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- Syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- a few drops of lemon juice
Directions

Bet egg whites until stiff

Mix yolks and sugar with cooled butter

Alternate meringue, flour, nuts and zwieback.

Bake at 350 until done.

Douse hot cake with cold syrup or vice versa
