Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 1 cup oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 stick soft butter
- 1/4 teaspoon soda water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 10 ounces pitted dates, chopped
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
Directions

eheat oven to 375.

Grease 9 × 9 pan and line with foil

Grease foil

Prepare the topping by mixing flour, oats, sugar, butter, soda, salt and cinnamon

Place 2 cups into the pan and press into the bottom of pan

Bake for 10 minutes and cool completely

Turn off the oven

Prepare the date filling

In saucepan, cook dates, sugar and 1/4 cup water over medium heat until it thickens, about 6-8 minutes.

Spoon into a bowl and cool in refrigerator about 1/2 hour

Spread filling on crust.

Top with rest of crumb mixture and bake for 35-40 minutes.

Cool on wire rack

Cut into 4″ × 3″ pieces
