Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups oil
- 1 cup butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup orange juice
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 3 teaspoons cinnamon
- 3 teaspoons ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- flour
- Syrup
- 6 ounces honey
- 4 cups sugar
- 2 cups water
- 1 1/2 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Walnut mixture
- Finely chopped walnuts

- nutmeg
Directions

Mix sugar, butter and oil

Add baking powder, soda and spices into mixer

Add eggs, the flour and orange juice, alternating flour and juice.

Keep adding flour until dough no longer sticks to your hands

Form into oblong cookies on a grater to create a pattern on each cookie

Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake in a preheated 400 degree oven until brown

Prepare the syrup. Combine all of the ingredients bring to a boil and boil over low heat for about 5 minutes.

Allow the cookies to cool and turn upside down in pan. Douse with hot syrup. Let sit for 10 minutes and turn over. Cover with foil.

The next day, top with walnut mixture.
