Ingredients
- 1 can (6 oz.) evaporated milk
- 1 package (14 oz) caramels
- 1 package (17 - 18 oz.) German or Swiss Chocolate Cake Mix
- 1/4 cup butter of margarine, melted
- 1 cup chopped nuts (pecans)
- 1 package (6 oz.) semi-sweet choc. chips

In a heavy duty pot, stir together 1/3 cup evaporated milk and caramels. Cook until mixture is smooth. Stir together cake mix, butter, remaining milk and nuts. Press half of dough into bottom of greased and floured 9 × 13 pan. Bake at 350 for 6 minutes. Sprinkle choc. pieces on top of baked dough, top with melted caramel mixture. Crumble remaining dough over top. Return to oven, continue baking 15 – 18 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.
