Fresh Cherry Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup pomegranate juice or water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 cups sweet fresh cherries, pitted

Directions

  1. Mix the water and cornstarch in a cup until smooth.

  2. Combine the pomegranate juice and sugar in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Stir in the cherries and return to a boil. Reduce the heat, stir in the cornstarch mixture, and bring to a simmer. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is thickened and the cherries soften, about 2 minutes.

  3. Transfer the sauce to a medium bowl. Let cool at least 15 minutes before serving.
