Fresh Cherry Sauce

Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons water
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/3 cup pomegranate juice or water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3 cups sweet fresh cherries, pitted

Mix the water and cornstarch in a cup until smooth.

Combine the pomegranate juice and sugar in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Stir in the cherries and return to a boil. Reduce the heat, stir in the cornstarch mixture, and bring to a simmer. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is thickened and the cherries soften, about 2 minutes.

Transfer the sauce to a medium bowl. Let cool at least 15 minutes before serving.
