Caroline’s Birthday Spiced Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2/3 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp mace
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate, grated

Directions

  1. Cream butter until fluffy, then gradually beat in sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in yogurt and vanilla.

  2. Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, mace, allspice, cinnamon and cloves and stir into creamed mixture. Beat for 4 minutes, then fold in chocolate.

  3. Place batter in greased and floured bundt pan. Bake at 325 degrees F. for 70 minutes. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn onto rack to finish cooling.
