Beer Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 12 ounces of beer
  • 1 egg, beaten

Directions

  1. just oven rack to lower-middle position and heat oven to 375.

  2. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large bowl.

  3. Add beer and stir with a fork until just combined.

  4. Turn dough onto a floured surface.

  5. Knead quickly to form a ball.

  6. Place bread on a baking sheet and slit an X on top.

  7. Brush loaf with egg wash.

  8. Bake until golden brown, about 45 minutes.
