Chocolate Pecan Pie

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup margarine, melted
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder, unsweetened
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1 9-inch deep dish pie crust

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

  2. In a heavy saucepan, combine melted margarine, corn syrup, white sugar and cocoa. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves. Put a bit of the hot chocolate mixture in a separate bowl and whisk the eggs in to the bowl. Pour remaining hot chocolate mixture into the bowl of chocolate/egg mixture. Whisk constantly until thoroughly mixed. Then, add vanilla, salt and pecans. Mix well.

  3. Pour filling into unbaked pastry shell. Bake at 325 for 55 minutes. Let cool and serve.
