Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, softened
- 2 cups packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon maple flavoring
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 cups vanilla or 2 cups white chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- Frosting:
- 1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon maple flavoring
- 4 -6 tablespoons milk
- 3 1/2 cups pecan halves
Directions

In a mixing bowl, cream shortening, butter and brown sugar.

Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.

Beat in vanilla and maple flavoring.

Combing the flour and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture.

Stir in vanilla chips and pecans.

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2-inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets.

Bake at 350° for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.

Cool for 2 minutes before removing to wire racks.

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and powdered sugar.

Beat in maple flavoring and enough milk to achieve a spreadable consistency.

Frost cooled cookies.

Top each with a pecan half.
