Bacon Brussel Sprouts

Serves 4 people

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 6 whole garlic cloves
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 3/4 lb (about 12) brussel sprouts, cut in 1/2
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. In large skillet melt butter over med heat

  2. Put garlic cloves in skillet and brown completely

  3. Remove garlic to small bowl

  4. Add bacon to skillet and cook until crisp

  5. Transfer bacon to paper towel to drain, when cool crumble into small pieces

  6. Put sprouts in skillet with bacon grease, flat side down and saute until they begin to brown (about 2 – 3 mins)

  7. Turn them over, increase heat to med-high and add sugar and broth

  8. Cook a few mins, then add the cooked bacon and garlic back

  9. Cover and cook for 2 more mins or until desired tenderness

  10. Serve
