Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 large onion sliced
- 1/3 cup flour
- garlic salt
- parsley flakes, fresh or dried
- salt & pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon chili powder (optional)
- water
- canned or fresh mushrooms (optional)
Directions
-
Form patties from ground beef. Brown in large heavy skillet.
-
While browning, season with garlic salt, pepper, and parsley flakes. When patties are browned, but not fully cooked, remove temporarily from skillet.
-
There should be some grease or drippings in the skillet…if there is not enough, add a little oil.
-
Gently saute onions in drippings until just wilted.
-
Add flour to onions and drippings, combine. Add optional chili powder if desired.
-
Add water to skillet, stirring…until skillet is about 1/2 full of water. Return browned patties to gravy and onions. Add optional mushrooms if desired.
-
Bring to a slow simmer…turn patties once. Reduce heat, cover and simmer slowly for about 30 minutes checking so gravy does not stick or burn on bottom.
