Orange-Cinnamon Bread (Bread Machine)

Ingredients

  • Dough:
  • 2/3 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 orange, zest of
  • 1 tablespoon gluten, plus
  • 1 teaspoon gluten
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons fast rising yeast (or 2 3/4 t. bread machine yeast)
  • Vanilla-Orange Glaze:
  • 3/4 cup sifted powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2-2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Add all the dough ingredients to the pan according to the order in the manufacturer’s directions.

  2. Set crust on medium and program for the Basic cycle; press start.

  3. When the baking cycle ends, immediately remove the bread from the pan and place it on a rack.

  4. Place a plate or piece of waxed paper under the rack.

  5. Make the glaze: combine the powdered sugar, orange juice, and vanilla in a bowl; beat with a small whisk until smooth.

  6. With a large spoon, drizzle the bread with the glaze, letting it drip down the sides.

  7. Cool to room temperature to set the glaze before slicing.
