Ingredients
- 3 cup(s) All purpose flour
- 3 teaspoon(s) baking powder
- 1 teaspoon(s) baking soda
- 1-11/4 cup(s) cold buttermilk
- 4 tablespoon(s) cold, unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- 11/2 cup(s) combination golden raisins and dried cherries
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup(s) light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon(s) Salt
Directions

Preheat oven to 400F. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add butter and cut in with a dough whisk until soft crumbs are formed. Add buttermilk, and eggs. stir until just moistened, then add fruit. Knead gently, sprinkling with flour to prevent sticking. Divide dough into 2 equal portions and place on baking sheet. Slash tops with a large X. Bake 35-40 minutes.
