Red Beans and Ham

Ingredients

  • 3 (15 1/2 ounce) cans red kidney beans , rinsed and drained
  • 1 (14 1/2 ounce) can cajun stewed tomatoes
  • 2 cups diced fully cooked ham
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 dashes hot sauce

Directions

  1. In a large Dutch oven, bring all ingredients to a boil.

  2. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

  3. **We serve this over hot cooked rice.
