Enchilada Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 T. olive oil
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 t. minced onion
  • 1 t. dried oregano
  • 1T. plus 2t. chili powder
  • 1t. dried basil
  • 1/4 t. ground black pepper
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 1/2 t. ground cumin
  • 2t. dried parsley
  • 1/2 c. salsa
  • 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 3 cups water

Directions

  1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and saute for 1 to 2 minutes. Add the onion, oregano, chili powder, basil, ground black pepper, salt, cumin, parsley, salsa and tomato sauce. Mix together and then stir in the water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.
