Ingredients
- 3 cups shelled fresh purple-hull peas
- 2 cups water
- 1/3 cup cubed lean ham
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan; bring to a boil.
