Mostaccioli

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. ground Pork
  • 1/2 lb. ground Beef
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 3 slices chopped cooked bacon
  • 1 can Italian tomatoes (28 oz.)
  • 1 can tomatoe paste (6 oz.)
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp sherry wine (optioinal)
  • Parmesan cheese, grated

Directions

  1. Mix ground pork, ground beef and a few pieces of onion.

  2. Heat bacon in hot oil (I don’t use the oil).

  3. Add meat and remaining onion. stirring constantly until well browned.

  4. Add tomatoes, bay leaf & basil.

  5. Season to taste with salt & pepper.

  6. Simmer for 1 hour (add water if sauce becomes too thick).

  7. Add tomato paste & wine and simmer for another 15 minutes.

  8. Remove bay leaf.

  9. Mix with pasta and top with parmesan cheese
