Bow Ties With Palamino Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 T. butter
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 mild banana pepper, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 T. flour
  • 3/4 C. whole milk
  • 1/2 C. heavy cream
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 1 1/4 C. spaghetti sauce (jarred)
  • 1 lb. bow tie pasta (farfalle)
  • 1/4 C. parmesan cheese, freshly grated
  • 1/4 C. fresh basil leaves, sliced

Directions

  1. In a 12-inch skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion, pepper, and garlic, and cook until vegetables are tender, stirring occasionally.

  2. Stir in flour; cook 1 minute. Stir in milk, cream, and salt; heat to boiling over medium-high heat. Stir in spaghetti sauce and cook over medium heat 10 minutes; stirring occasionally.

  3. Cook pasta as label directs. Drain well; return to saucepot. Add sauce, Parmesan, and basil, toss well to coat pasta.
