Oatmeal Refrigerator Crisps

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups quick oatmeal
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Directions

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add egg, vanilla and beat well. Ad sifted dry ingredients and blend. Add oats and nuts. Mix and shape into 2 rolls about 2 inches in diameter. Wrap in waxed pater and chill in refrigerator for several hours or over night. Cut aout 1/4" slices and bake onoiled cookie cheet in a moderate over about 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Makes 2 1/2 dozen
