Strawberries with Custard Sauce

Ingredients
- 2 Cups milk
- 5 egg yolks
- 2/3 Cup sugar
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 4 Cups strawberry halves
Directions

Place milk in top of a double boiler; bring water to a boil. Cook until milk is thoroughly heated; stirring frequently. Remove from heat and set aside.

Beat egg yolks, sugar, and salt at medium speed of an electric mixer until thickened. Gradually stir about one-fourth of hot milk into egg mixture; add to remaining milk, stirring constantly.

Cook custard mixture in double boiler over low heat, stirring occasionally, 30 minutes or until mixture thickens. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.

Cool completely, stirring occasionally.

TO STORE: Refrigerate in a tightly covered container up to 3 days.

TO SERVE: Spoon strawberries into individual dessert dishes. Drizzle custard sauce over strawberries.
