Dumplings

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 egg, well beated
  • 5 tbsp. water or broth
  • 3 tbsp. shortening
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions

  1. Mix flour, salt and shortening with fork or pastry blender.

  2. Add water and eggs, making soft dough. Divide into two parts.

  3. Roll out very thin sheets and let dry for a few minutes.

  4. Cut into small squares and drop into hot broth.

  5. Cook until tender.
