Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef, pork and veal mix or extra-lean ground beef
- Cracked black pepper
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 2 pinches allspice
- 1/2 medium Spanish onion
- 1 cup canned low-sodium, no-fat beef broth
- 1/3 cup red wine
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- Palmful of fresh flat-leaf parsley
- 1 lb penne or rigatoni
- Grated Parmesan
Directions

Brown meat, seasoned with black pepper, in a deep skillet over medium high heat.

Add garlic, crushed red pepper and allspice.

Grate the onion, using a handheld grater, directly into the pan.

Cook another 3-5 minutes to soften onion.

Add broth and wine.

Give the pan a good shake.

Scrape up any good bits from the bottom of the pan.

Add tomatoes and parsley.

Give the pan another good shake.
-
Reduce heat to low and simmer while you cook the pasta.

Toss with pasta .
