Home Phyllo Chicken Recipe Rolls (Msakhan)

Ingredients

  • 3 cups cooked chicken
  • 2 cups sliced onions
  • 3 tbs olive oil
  • 2 tbs Dede's sumac spice
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 package phyllo dough

Directions

  1. In a sauce pan add olive oil and onions and cook on medium heat, shred chicken and add to onions, add salt if chicken is not salted, cook for 5 minutes or until lightly brown.

  2. Remove from heat and add sumac, paprika, black pepper and cayenne pepper.

  3. Lay out 1 layer of phyllo dough and cut into 8 × 10 inch size, brush with butter. Add 2 tbs chicken to 1 sheet of phyllo dough, fold in sides and roll. Repeat until all chicken is done.

  4. Place rolls open end down in a pan and brush with butter on top.

  5. Cook in preheated oven at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown, serve as a side dish or appetizer.
