Hamburger-Barley Soup

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 cans beef broth
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 can tomatoes, cut up
  • 2 med. onions, chopped
  • 2 med. carrots, sliced
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 1/3 cup pearl barley
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. dried basil
  • 1 bay leaf
  • salt & pepper

Directions

  1. Brown beef in large saucepan, drain off excess fat.

  2. Add remaining ingredients & bring to a boil.

  3. Simmer for an hour.

  4. Remove bay leaf and serve.
