Ingredients
- 1 C shortening
- 2 C sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 T vanilla extract
- 3 C all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 C buttermilk
- DRIZZLE
- 1 C confectioners' sugar
- 1 to 2 T milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder and baking soda; add to the creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beat well after each addition. Pour into a greased 10 inch fluted tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 55-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack to cool completely. Combine the drizzle ingredients; drizzle over cake.
