Ingredients
- 3 (28oz.) cans crushed tomatoes
- 3 or 4 cloves of garlic, chopped
- 1 med. onion, sliced
- 1/3 cup olive oil
- 1/3 cup fresh basil, chopped
- Pinch of sugar
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions

Heat the oil in a large Dutch oven; saute onion. When the onion is soft, add garlic. Cook until slightly browned. Pour in tomatoes. Add basil, garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste; then pinch of sugar. Simmer sauce for 3 hours approximately. Add Italian meatballs or browned sausages during the last hour of cooking the sauce.
