Ingredients
- Dried apple slices
- Colored sugar
- 3/4 c water
- 3/4 c granulated sugar
- 1/2 t ground ginger
- 1/4 t ground nutmeg
- 1 small cinnamon stick
- 3 whole cloves
- 3 whole allspice
- 3 coriander seeds
- 3 cardamom seeds
- 3 c ale or wine
- 2 1/4 c dry sherry
- 1/3 c cognac

Using tiny cookie cutters or sharp knife, cut dried apple slices into festive shapes, moisten with water and coat with colored sugar, set aside

combine 3/4 c water granulated sugar, and spices in large saucepan, bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 5 min.

Stir in ale, sherry and cognac. Heat just to simmering. Do not boil. Strain into heatproof punch bowl. Float apple slices in punch.
