Ingredients
- 2 pkgs. active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 4 cups flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1-1/2 t salt
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1 egg
- Filling
- 1-1/4 sticks butter, softened
- 1-1/2 cups finely chopped onion
- 1-1/2 T parmesan cheese
- 1-1/2 T poppy seeds
- 1-1/2 t garlic powder or garlic flakes
- 1-1/2 t paprika
Directions

Dissolve the yeast in 1/4 cup warm water. Add 2 cups flour, salt, sugar, 1/2 cup water, milk, butter, and egg. Blend at low speed two minutes, then beat at medium speed two more minutes. By hand, stir in the other 2 cups flour to form a soft dough. Cover and let rise 45-60 minutes or until double in size. Stir the dough down and toss on a floured board. Knead until no longer sticky. Roll out to 18“x24” and cover with filling. Cut lengthwise into three 6“x24” strips. Roll each strip up tightly, like a cinnamon roll, beginning on the long side. Braid the three strips together, sealing the ends and sides. Place on a greased cookie sheet and let rise until double in bulk. Bake at 350 for 30 to 35 minutes or until done.
