Buttermilk Waffles

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups (375mL) flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons (7.5mL) baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5mL) baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5mL) salt
  • 1 1/2 cups (375mL) buttermilk
  • 6 tablespoons (90mL) butter, melted
  • 2 eggs, beaten lightly
  • optional: blueberries or chocolate chips (1/2 cup?)

Directions

  1. Plug in waffle maker to pre-heat.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; stir in buttermilk, butter, and eggs, stirring until thoroughly mixed (batter will be thick). Pour about 2/3 to 3/4 cup (160 to 180 mL) of batter into the middle of the waffle maker. Close lid and cook 5 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 4 to 6 waffles.
