Sun Pickles

Ingredients

  • 6-1/2 C cold water
  • 3-1/4 C white vinegar
  • 2/3 C pickling salt
  • 1 lg. clove garlic, minced
  • 1/8 tsp alum
  • 3 large heads of dill

Directions

  1. Mix together the water, vinegar, salt and alum. Put 1 dill head in bottom of a gallon glass jar. Next put 1/3 of the minced garlic over the dill. Fill the jar half full of pickles. Then repeat the dill and garlic layers. Fill jar with pickles to the top. End with 1 head of dill and the last 1/3 of the garlic. Pour water mixture over all, put on lid and set in the sun for 3-4 days. Then put in the refrigerator for 2 days, then enjoy!
