Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 pound beef steak (marinating steak) 1/2" thick in cubes
- 8 cups water
- 1 14oz can stewed tomatoes
- 1 cup carrots peeled and sliced
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup sliced celery
- 1/2 cup barley
- 2 pkg Bovril
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- salt and pepper
Directions

Over medium heat, cook beef cubes in oil until brown.

Add 8 cups water.

Cover and simmer for 1 hour until tender.

Remove beef and shred with 2 forks.

Return to pot and add remaining ingredients.

Cover and simmer for at least and hour.

Add more Bovril if desired.
