Beer Battered Onion Rings – Old

Cook time: 15 minutes
Serves 3 people

Ingredients

  • 1 quart vegetable or canola oil for frying
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cold beer
  • 1 tsp Cholula hot sauce
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 4 tbsp Italian Seasoned Break Crumbs
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 Medium Yellow Onion, peeled, sliced thick (3/8") and use the center chunks

Directions

  1. l in your favorite frying mechanism. Ours is a stock pot on electric range, large burner, on 5-6. No lid needed.

  2. Combine all ingredients, whisk together, now whisk again. Let is rest, whisk. Batter will be fairly thick.

  3. Prepare onion and lay pieces out.

  4. Dredge each piece, one at time and place into hot oil. Repeat about 4 times to get through the whole onion.

  5. Drain on paper towel lined plate.

  6. After cool, serve or pile into a warming tray.
