Ingredients
- CRUST
- 1 c. walnuts, divided
- 1 1/4 c. unsifted all purpose flour
- 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c. butter flavor Crisco
- 1/2 c. coconut flakes
- FILLING:
- 1 oz pkg cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 c/ sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 t. vanilla
- 1 21oz can regular or light cherry pie filling

Oven @ 350

Grease bottom of 13×9×2 pan.

Chop 1/2 nuts coarsely for topping. Set aside.

Chop remaining nuts finely.

CRUST:

combine flour and brown sugar.

Cut in Butter flavored Crisco until fine crunbs frm.

Add 1/2 finely chopped nuts and coconut.

Mix well.

Remove 1/2 cup. Set aside .

Press remaning crumbs into bottom of greased pan.

Bake at 350 for 12-15 min, until edges are light brown.

FILLING:
-
beat cream cheese, sugar and egg and vanilla until smooth.

Spread over hot baked crust.

Return to over.

Bake 10 mins longer.

Spread cherry pie filling over cheese layer.

Combine reserved nuts and crumbs; sprinkle evenly over cherries.

Return to oven and bake 15 mins longer.

Cool. Cut into 24 bars.
