Ingredients
- 1 3/4 c. flour
- 3 T. sugar
- 1 t. baking powder
- 1/2 c. + 2 Tbs butter or oil
- 2 egg yolks, well beaten
- 1/2 c. chopped walnuts
- Filling:
- 1/5 cups sugar
- 4 Tbs flour
- 2 egg yolks, beaten
- 4 c. sliced rhubarb (about 8 stalks)
- Meringue:
- 4-5 egg whites
- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 8 or 10 Tbs sugar (2 for e/ egg white used)
Directions

In mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, butter and egg yolks w/ beater.

Mix well.

Stir in nuts.

Press on sides and bottom of well greased 13×9 pan.

Pour filing into crust lined pan.

Bake @ 350 for 40 mins.

Put meringue on baked cake, then bake about 15 mins longer until light brown.

Filling:

IN bowl, thoroughly mix all ingredients.

In large bowl (not plastic), combine egg whites and cream of tartar.

Beat until peaks form.

Add sugar and continue beating until still peaks form.
