Lori’s Caramels

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1, 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 c. light corn syrup
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

  1. Mix everything except vanilla in a heavy skillet. Heat on medium heat until boiling. Reduce heat to low; simmer and stir constantly for 12 mins.

  2. Remove from heat and add vanilla.

  3. Pour into buttered 9×13″ pan. Cool for 2-3 hrs.

  4. Cut into 4 the long way in the pan; cut into 15 across. Wrap into wax paper squares (6”x6”) and twist both ends of wax paper.

  5. Makes approx. 60 caramels.
