Frosty Strawberry Squares

Cool and refreshing strawberry dessert.

Serves 10 people

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups sliced fresh strawberries or 1 10 oz package of frozen strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 cup whipping cream, whipped

Directions

  1. Stir together first 4 ingredients. Spead evenly in shallow baking pan. Pake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. stirring occasionally. Sprinkle 2/3 of the crumbs in a 13×9×2 inch baking pan.

  2. Combine egg whites, sugar, berries and lemon juice in a large bowl . Beat with beater at high speed until stiff peaks form. Takes about 10 minutes. Fold in whipped cream. Spoon over crumbs. Sprinkle remaining crumbs over top. Freeze 6 hours or overnight. cut in 10 to 12 squares. Trim with whole strawberries.
