Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients

  • Topping:
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 2 cups panko
  • 1/4 lb or 1.5 cup chedder
  • 1/2 cup parmesan
  • Cheese Sauce:
  • 1 stick butter
  • 6 tbsp. flour
  • 5 cups whole milk
  • 6 cups chedder or 1 lb. chedder
  • 1/2 cup parmesan
  • 2 lb. elbow macaroni

Directions

  1. eheat oven to 400.

  2. Melt 1/2 stick butter.

  3. Stir in panko, cheeses.

  4. Set aside.

  5. Cook pasta, reserving 1 cup liquid.

  6. Melt rest of butter.

  7. Stir in flour 1 tbsp. at a time until combined to make a roux.

  8. Cook roux 3 minutes, then slowly stir in milk.

  9. Stir in cheeses, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper.

  10. Stir macaroni, water and cheese sauce.

  11. Transfer to to pans.

  12. Sprinkle on topping.

  13. Bake 20-25 minutes.
