Fried Green Tomatoes

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 c finely chopped pecans
  • 1.5 t ground black pepper
  • 6 lg green tomatoes, in 1/2 " thick slices
  • 2 T canola oil
  • 1 T chopped fresh basil or 1/4 t dried basil

Directions

  1. Combine flour, pecans, and pepper and coat tomatoes.

  2. Saute tomatoes in oil in batches.

  3. Brown each side.

  4. Pour pan drippings and basil over the tomatoes once done.
