Creamy Caramels

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup dark corn syrup
  • 1 cup butter/margerine
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Waxed paper

Directions

  1. Line an 8 inch square pan with foil and butter the foil.

  2. Comvine sugar, corn syrup, and but in 3 qt sauce pan.

  3. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil slowly for 4 minutes without stirring.

  4. Remove from heat and stir in milk.

  5. Reuce heat to medium-low and cook until candy thermometer read 238 degrees (soft-ball stage), stirring constantly.

  6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

  7. Pour into pan.

  8. Cool.

  9. Remove from pan and cut into 1 in squares.

  10. Wrap individually in wax paper.
