Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 teaspoons almond extract

Directions

  1. Cream sugar and shortening.

  2. Add eggs and almond extract.

  3. Sift flour, salt, and soda.

  4. Alternate adding dry mix with buttermilk to mixture.

  5. Beating after each.

  6. Pour into an angel food pan.

  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
