Foolproof Pie Crust

This recipe makes four 9" crusts and freezes well unbaked.

Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1-3/4 cups shortening
  • 1 T. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 T. vinegar, white
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 c. water

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 450 – bake 12-15 minutes

  2. In mixing bowl, combine flour, shortening, sugar and salt.

  3. Add vinegar, egg and water.

  4. Mix lightly with fork or dough mixer.

  5. Form into smooth ball & chill 15 minutes

  6. Divide into 4 equal balls.

  7. Roll out on generously floured pastry cloth.

  8. Use 9" pie dish, fluting the edging as desired.

  9. Prick with fork several times in bottom and sides of pie dish.
