Buttermilk Pie

(from largomason’s recipe box)

This pie is rich, you could use a little less sugar and add 1 T. more flour

Ingredients

  • 1/2 C. buttermilk
  • 1 3/4 C. sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 T. flour
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 stick butter or margarine melted
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • nutmeg

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F

  2. Mix everything together and pour into an unbaked 9" pie shell.

  3. Sprinkle the top lightly with fresh nutmeg.

  4. Bake 15 minutes at 400 degrees.

  5. Reduce to 350 degrees and bake about 45 minutes longer. Cool to allow the filling to set.
