Spaghetti Bolognese

Ingredients

  • 500 g lean beef mince
  • 1 T oil
  • 1 onion,peeled and chopped
  • 1 t minced garlic
  • 1 green pepper, deseeded and chopped
  • 2 rashers bacon, chopped
  • 420 g can condensed tomato soup
  • 400 g pesto or italian, chopped tomatoes
  • 400 g dried spaghetti
  • 2 T fresh basil or parsley, chopped

Directions

  1. Brown mince in hot pan, breaking up with spoon as it browns; set aside.

  2. Add oil to pan, gently cook onion, garlic, pepper and bacon until tender, but not brown.

  3. Stir in soup and tomatoes with 1/2 C water.

  4. Return mince, mix well and simmer, covered, gently for 15 minutes.

  5. Cook spaghetti in boiling salted water about 10 minutes, until just tender; drain well.

  6. Season bolognese sauce and stir through the basil.

  7. Spoon sauce over pasta and serve with grated Parmesan cheese.
