Cadbury’s Mum’s Chocolate Slice

Soft base rather than normal crunchy one

Ingredients

  • 185 g butter, melted
  • 1 1/4 C brown sugar
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 3/4 C flour
  • 1/3 C self raising flour
  • 1/3 C cocoa
  • 3/4 C dessicated coconut
  • Icing:
  • 1 C icing sugar
  • 1/4 C cocoa
  • 20g butter, melted
  • hot water to mix
  • 2 T dessicated coconut extra, for sprinkling

Directions

  1. Beat together butter, sugar, egg and vanilla.

  2. Stir through sifted flours and cocoa; stir in coconut and mix until well combined.

  3. Spread in lined 28cm x 18cm slice pan.

  4. Bake at 180oC approx 25-20 minutes, until cooked through.

  5. Sift icing sugar with extra cocoa into bowl, then stir in melted butter and enough hot water to make spreadable icing.

  6. Spread over slice, sprinkle with extra coconut.

  7. Cut into pieces when icing is set.
