Ingredients
- 2 cups melted butter
- 2 cups powdered sugar (not sifted)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp orange extract
- 1 tsp orange zest
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cream of tartar (critical)
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 1/2 cups of flour (not sifted)
- 1/2 cup white sugar in small bowl to be used later
- 2 cups chocolate chips (12oz.)
- 1 stick of butter (for topping)
Directions

Do not preheat oven; Dough must chill before baking.

Melt butter,add the sugars to the melted butter & mix. Let mixture cool to room temp, then mix eggs in 1 at a time, stirring well after each addition. Add orange extract, zest, baking soda, cream of tartar, & salt. Mix well. Add flour in 1/2 cup increments, mixing after each addition.

Chill dough at least 1 hour ; overnight is fine too.

Preheat oven to 325F when ready to bake.

Roll the dough into 1 inch balls, roll the balls is the small bowl of sugar Place dough balls onto greased cookie sheet flatten with a greased spatula.

Place cookie sheet in middle of oven. Bake at 325 for 10-15 min. Just a tinge of gold on top. Cool on cookie sheet for 2 min. Remove to rack to finish cooling. Lay out wax paper on counter & prepare to dip the cookies in the chocolate dip.

Topping: Melt chips & butter, stir to make smooth dip 1/2 the cookie into the chocolate , lay aside to cool completely, till the chocolate dries.
