Sweet and Sour Red Cabbage

Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 Tbsp butter or rendered bacon fat
- 1 med. onion, chopped
- 2 tart apples, cored, peeled and chopped
- 1 med head red cabbage, shredded
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/3 c brown sugar
- 3 c water
- 1/2 c red wine vinegar
- 2 Tbsp lemon juice
- 3 to 4 whole cloves
Directions

In a large skillet, heat oil and butter/bacon fat.

Add onions and apple and cook down of med heat approx 2 to 3 minutes.

Add all the other ingredients, stir and mix thoroughly and cover.

Cook 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

Remove the bay leaf before serving.
