Emeril’s King Cake (see other version)

Ingredients

  • 2 pkg yeast
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 12 TB melted butter
  • 1 c milk
  • 5 yolks
  • 4-1/2 c flour
  • 2 t salt
  • 1 t nutmet
  • 1 t grated lemon zest
  • 16oz cream cheese
  • 4 c powd sugar
  • 5 TB milk
  • 3 TB lemon juice
  • (you can also place pie filling in strip next to cream cheese filling - a bit tricky)

Directions

  1. Prepare dough w/mixer, adding bit of water if too dry.

  2. Rise 2 hr.

  3. Prepare filling.

  4. 30″×9″ – thin as pie crust.

  5. Fill, flip two sides over, seal, form into circle seam side down.

  6. Rise 45min

  7. 350/25-30

  8. Icing with colored sugar
