Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 cups oatmeal
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- 1/4 cup flaked coconut
- 1/2 cup mixed dried fruit bits
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Combine flour, baking soda, and salt. In a large mixer bowl beat shortening and butter or margarine till butter is softened. Add sugar and brown sugar and beat till fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla and beat well. Add flour mixture and beat till well mixed. Stir in oats, nuts and coconut. Divide into three equal parts.

To one-third of the dough stir in fruit bits, to another third chocolate pieces, and to the other third raisins and cinnamon. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
