Devils Food Chocolate Layer Cake

Serves 10 people
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup low fat buttermilk
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- 1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 2 tsp vanilla
Directions

eheat oven to 350.

Coat 2 round 8 inch no stick pans with no stick spray.

Medium bowl-combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.

Small bowl-combine buttermilk, oil, applesauce, and vanilla.

Stir the buttermilk mixture into the flour mixture and mix until smooth.

Spoon batter evenly into prepared pans.

Bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes, then invert and remove pans. Cool the cakes completely.

Can also bake in a rectangular 9×12×2 pan for 20 minutes.
